NutriCoach2 Recieves HONcode Acreditation May 2, 2005 Press Release On April 30,2006 This NutriCoach website was reviewed and approved for HONcode accreditation. HONcode is from the Health on the Net Foundation. Health On the Net Foundation is the leading organization promoting and guiding the deployment of useful and reliable online medical and health information, and its appropriate and efficient use. Created in 1995, HON is a non-profit, non-governmental organization, accredited to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations. (Read more about HON)
The original application for www.NutriCoach.net took several months to be approved. The application for www.NutriCoach2.com was approved in days. To be approved, a website has to meet several criteria. The HONcode staff reviews a site to insure all criteria are being complied with. www.NutriCoach.com met all criteria without need for modifications on the first try. The Health On the Net Foundation HONcode is a code of ethical conduct for web site operators which aims to protect citizens from false or misleading health or medical information. Consultations brought together webmasters, citizens and experts, who reached consensus on an 8-point code now in use by over 3,600 web sites. The qualifying web sites would form a ‘confidence-space’, where citizens could safely explore their information options. A neutral, intelligent third party was needed to provide this context from which the notions of trustworthiness and confidence could be derived. Selection Guidelines: The accreditation is based on the HONcode 8 principles which address: the authority of the information provided, data confidentiality and privacy, proper attribution of sources, transparency of financial sponsorship and the importance of clearly separating advertising from editorial content. The request for accreditation is voluntary (Requests are handled through the HON Web site). Site administrators must take the initiative to apply for HONcode accreditation. Then each request for accreditation is examined by a member of the HONcode review team. HON makes a thorough visit of the site and verifies that all eight of the HONcode ethical principles are respected. The site is accredited by HON when the site not only complies with the HONcode principles but also demonstrates how each principle is implemented. As the result of the HONcode accreditation the site which is found to respect the eight HONcode principles is given a unique ’active seal’ to place on their pages.
Welcome Brayden April 29, 2006 As this website is being born, so is my newest grandson. Brayden was born this morning at 7:53 a.m.
He is a strong healthy child that weighed in at 8 pounds 12 ounces. He was 2 weeks over due and reticent to enter this world. He kept his mother in labor for 35 hours. I was a little surprised that he was doing pushups at 8 hours old. As I was reclining in a chair at the hospital he was laying against my chest. He dug his little toes into my belly and pushed up with his arms far enough for me to be able to slide my hand completely under his stomach. I was surprised to find his mother, Amanda still awake when I arrived to meet him. At that point she had been awake for close to 48 hours, but would not sleep as she kept careful eye on her new charge. Mother and child are both healthy and doing fine. Grandma is buzzing around and in secound heaven.
Brayden is my second grandchild within a year. One of my other daughters, Tara had a girl. Her name is Tia Bella. They are in Hawaii so I only get to see pictures and video of her. Tia Bella is also a strong healthy child. She was walking at under 10 months. These events in our lives give us good reason to pause and take stock.
For me, they are also reasons to properly manage my health so I will be around to watch them grow up. I am sure you can find similar reasons to manage your health too. Diabetes, obesity, high cholesterol and other issues closely related to nutrition are things we can do something about. A poor diet can have devastating effects on our health. A horrible diet almost killed me. Learning proper dietary control has restored my health and allowed me a second chance to watch these little ones grow up. I have built this site to help others realize the health benefits I have been able to achieve with careful dietary control. There are two other little ones a little older who are aware of grandpa working on his computer building this and other websites. They will be upset with me if I don’t talk about them too. They are Dawson and Mykila from a different daughter, Tammy. Dawson will be five this year and starting school. Mykila is three. I have a total of 8 kids and * grand kids. I promise, This news letter will not all be about my kids and grand kids. Most of the time The tone will be far more serious. The internet tends to leave things rather impersonal. I want this site to be one that reaches out and involves our visitors. I would like to add stories about you and how you are working toward better health and why. If you have an article about health and nutrition, have tips about foods you have found beneficial, or would like to share your success stories about how you are using nutrition to get healthy send them to me for review. If they are appropriate I will be happy to share them with other NutriCoach members and guest. If you have pictures you would like to share contact me through the contact page and I will send you my personal email so you can send them to me. I want this to be more than just about me telling what I know. I am trying to build an on-line community of people helping people and all of us getting healthier. Toma
April 29, 2006
Things have been a bit hectic with a new grandbaby and building a new site. This new NutriCoach site was started April 24th 2006. It is an updated version of our other site at www.nutricoach.net featuring ASP.net technology, easier navigation and a nicer look and hopefully a better viewing experience for those who use it. If you are experiencing any problems with this site let us know so we can look for better solutions. Our goal is still the same, provide information to assist the Nutritionally challenged. Diabetes, cholesterol control and other nutrition related health issues are rampant in our modern society. Over half of diabetes patients are poorly controlled. This is our effort to try to help educate and work for a healthier world. If you would like to contribute an article for this newsletter submit it through our contact form below for review with "article submission" in the subject line.
